People Operations & Compliance Specialist

To support its continued growth, the company is seeking a temporary People Operations & Compliance Specialist based in Barcelona, working in a hybrid model. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to People Operations across multiple EMEA countries within a fast-paced, global environment.
About the Role
The People Operations & Compliance Specialist, EMEA will play a key role in supporting operational excellence and employee experience across multiple EMEA countries, with a strong focus on Spain, the UK, and Portugal. This role combines hands-on operational execution, regional compliance knowledge, process optimization, and cross-functional partnership in a fast-paced global environment.
What We’re Looking For
3–5 years of experience in HR Operations, People Operations, or HR Generalist roles within a fast-paced international environment
Strong operational knowledge of employee lifecycle management, including onboarding, offboarding, HRIS administration, and LOAs
Experience supporting multiple countries within EMEA, with strong exposure to Spain and familiarity/notions with the UK and Portugal labor regulations.
Working knowledge of Spanish labor law and employment practices
Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
Experience partnering cross-functionally with Payroll, Legal, Finance, HR Tech, and PBPs
Advanced experience with HR systems such as Workday and ticketing systems such as JIRA
Strong analytical and reporting skills, including Excel proficiency (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis)
Comfortable navigating ambiguity and working independently in a fast-paced global environment
Experience working in multicultural and globally distributed teams
Strong process management and organizational skills
Proactive communication style with the ability to build effective cross-functional relationships
Fluent in English and Spanish
What You Will Do
Employee Lifecycle Management
Manage end-to-end onboarding processes across assigned EMEA countries, ensuring a seamless employee experience and compliance with local requirements
Coordinate and execute employee lifecycle changes including hires, transfers, promotions, compensation changes, and terminations
Support offboarding processes in partnership with People Business Partners, Legal, Payroll, and IT, ensuring compliance and accurate documentation
Administer Leave of Absence (LOA) processes, including medical leaves, parental leave, and other statutory or company leaves, ensuring compliance with local legislation
Ensure employee documentation, contracts, right-to-work documentation, and required records are accurately maintained within Workday
Partner with Global Mobility and external vendors when immigration or relocation support is required
HR Operations & Compliance
Support compliance with local labor legislation and internal policies across EMEA countries, particularly Spain, the UK, and Portugal
Maintain awareness of legislative updates impacting HR operations and escalate potential risks appropriately
Support audits and compliance reviews, ensuring employee data integrity and documentation accuracy
Partner closely with Payroll, Legal, HR Tech, and PBPs to ensure operational accuracy and process consistency
Execute regular audits of HRIS data and employee records to ensure accuracy and compliance
People Operations Systems & Process Improvement
Support continuous improvement initiatives across People Operations processes and workflows
Collaborate cross-functionally to create and maintain SOPs, process documentation, and operational guidelines
Identify operational inefficiencies and recommend scalable solutions to improve employee and stakeholder experience
Utilize JIRA, Workday, and reporting tools to manage requests, track metrics, and improve operational effectiveness
Employee Support & Stakeholder Partnership
Act as a trusted operational partner for employees, managers, and PBPs across assigned regions
Provide guidance on People Operations processes, policies, and employee lifecycle matters
Support sensitive employee matters with professionalism, discretion, and strong attention to detail
Help drive consistency and operational excellence across global People Operations practices
What We Offer
This is a temporary position for an initial duration of 6 months, with potential for permanent incorporation based on performance and business needs
Competitive salary package in the range of €33,000 – €36,000 gross annual salary, depending on experience.
